Musical tip-offs

Postby cecilia » Sat Oct 29, 2011 5:18 pm

This new and fancy board hasn't come to life yet and I will try to remedy that with a new silly thread.
My first tip-off is http://youtu.be/06FiSFtX6G0

Any takers? ^.^

I've never heard of "musical tip-offs" before. How does it work?

You tell on good musical pieces that you like and believe others also might like. Can be anything, I think!

As you can tell, I am a fan of videogame music. :)

Ah, I see.

"Burial-In McDonalds" didn't have enough variation for my taste. I like music with great variations in volume and, mostly, more complexity :P. A selection of my favourite music:

Hybrid Statement - Epic music to end all epic music.

Norwegian Pirate - A close second in the epic department.

Rise and Fall of Middle Earth - Initially slow, it rises to a crescendo and then crashes back down.

Halo: The Spartans - A series of battles, with moments of reflection in between.

A God That Breeds Pestilence - Dark and haunting.

Edom O Gordon - About a third of the full song. The lyrics to the song: http://www.celticlyricscorner.net/malinky/edom.htm

Captain Ward and the Rainbow - A modern take on an old ballad.

A Word To Texas Jack - A Henry Lawson poem put to music by Slim Dusty. It's also the complete and utter truth ;) .

Bill - We all know a Bill.

Weird, I posted a couple of days earlier, but it is still not up. Maybe I did something wrong? :?

Oh well, I'll try again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWWONVQIpqI

"Burial-In McDonalds" is fine, but I am not completely into the the use of "McDonalds" in the title. Mostly because when I think of it, I think of an upbeat tune...

Out of the songs you presented Cahir, the one I like the most is "A God That Breeds Pestilence" for it made me think of a couple of moments from the Silent Hill series (mostly Silent Hill 3) that you could hear this song performed. It also made me think of the final battle against Geigue in the game Earthbound/Mother 2.

I have heard this several times, and I still tear up from listening to it. It is just so beautiful and true.
